design: a nursery

It was a dream come true to put together a nursery for my sweet girl.  I wanted the room to be fun, not too baby and just a touch of a boho feel. It is a small room, which I actually really love for a nursery, makes it instantly cozy.  The room is so hard to photograph because of its size and lack of natural light.  The only thing I would change is painting the walls white (and trust me I have thought about doing it despite a pending move!).

The rug is a turkish kilim found on eBay, I knew the rug would be the source of most of the rooms color.  I was also able to start the design of the room with some wonderful heirlooms: the rocking chair, horse and crib were all mine! They were such classic pieces that I knew they would fit perfect.  I painted the jenny lind crib in a high gloss black to give it a bit of a modern look.

The wall for her dresser and changing table is very short. When she has a bigger room I would like to get her a bigger dresser.  So, until then I just went with an ikea favorite. I added the lack bookcase on the side to store changing table essentials. The gallery wall was a fun way for me to add some personal touches to her room.
